Exploring SQL Server Concepts and Ideas

As a SQL Server developer, I always look forward to attending technology events that provide valuable insights and updates on the latest features and techniques. One such event that I highly recommend is the Great Indian Developer Summit. Having presented sessions on SQL Server for over 5 years at this summit, I can confidently say that it is a must-attend event for developers.

This year, the summit took place in two locations – Bangalore and Hyderabad. I had the opportunity to present three technology sessions on SQL Server 2014. If you were unable to attend the event, don’t worry! I will be sharing all the scripts and demos from my sessions through my newsletter. Make sure to sign up to receive them directly in your inbox.

Performance in 60 Seconds – SQL Tricks Everybody MUST Know

Date and Time: APRIL 21, 2015 14:00-15:00

Location: J. N. Tata Auditorium, National Science Symposium Complex (NSSC), Sir C.V.Raman Avenue, Bangalore, India

One common challenge that developers face is slow server response, even with high-end hardware. In this session, I shared various database tricks that require minimal time and no complex SQL coding. By implementing these tricks, developers can significantly improve the performance of their database servers in just 60 seconds. The session included interactive quizzes to keep the conversation engaging, and attendees walked away with practical scripts and knowledge that could be immediately applied to their servers.

Troubleshooting CPU Performance Issue for SQL Developers

Date and Time: APRIL 21, 2015 17:30-18:30

Location: J. N. Tata Auditorium, National Science Symposium Complex (NSSC), Sir C.V.Raman Avenue, Bangalore, India

When CPU usage reaches 100%, developers find themselves in a challenging situation. In this session, I discussed effective solutions to stabilize the system and buy more time for troubleshooting. Performance tuning and troubleshooting may seem like a lost art, but with evolving tools and techniques, developers can overcome even the most ancient performance issues. We focused on common performance problems related to CPU, IO, and Memory, and provided actionable insights and tips to address these resource-intensive scenarios.
